S.W.A.T Team

The Franklin Police Department is part of a part-time, multi-jurisdictional S.W.A.T. (Specialized Weapons and Tactics) Team. This multi-jurisdictional team consists of members from the Franklin Police Department, the Village of Greendale Police Department, and the Village of Hales Corners Police Department. The collaboration of personnel and resources from these three jurisdictions is crucial for effectively handling high-risk incidents.

S.W.A.T. Team members are specifically recruited, selected, trained, equipped, and assigned to manage critical incidents that pose a threat to public safety—situations that may exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement, first responders, or investigative units. Upon joining the team, members complete a 40-hour basic S.W.A.T. course, followed by an additional 100 hours of dynamic and realistic training each year to prepare for real-life operations. S.W.A.T. Team members are required to maintain physical fitness standards and weapon proficiency on several weapon platforms.
