About the Department
The Franklin, Wisconsin Police Department serves the residents and businesses of the City of Franklin by providing professional and high-quality law enforcement services with integrity and honor. Our goal is to make Franklin a safe and enjoyable place to live, work, and visit.
Law enforcement in Franklin began with a town constable and county sheriff support before the city’s incorporation. The Franklin Police Department was formally established in 1964, with a small team of six officers operating out of a modest farmhouse-style office.
Over the years, as Franklin’s population and geographic area expanded, the department also grew in size, structure, and capabilities. Today, the department operates 24/7, from its headquarters at 9455 W. Loomis Road, and is now composed of 62 sworn officers, 15 dispatchers, and civilian staff, organized into specialized divisions including Patrol, Investigations, Administration, Communications, and several specialized units. Each team works collaboratively to ensure public safety, maintain order, and foster strong community relationships.
