Honor Guard Unit

The Franklin Police Department’s Honor Guard Unit consists of highly motivated officers who uphold exceptional standards of appearance and conduct. The officers in this unit specialize in drill and ceremonies, rifle handling, flag etiquette, and police funeral procedures. The Honor Guard also serves as the "guardians of the colors" by displaying and presenting the National Flag during ceremonial occasions.

The primary responsibility of the Honor Guard is to provide funeral honors for fallen officers. It is a significant duty for the police honor guard unit to represent both the department and the officer at police funerals, whether the officer is active, retired, or has died in the line of duty. Their mission can be summed up by the quote: “The very least we can do is our very best.”
