W. Drexel Avenue (S. 51st Street to S. Bridge View Drive) reconstruction is set to begin Tuesday, July 29th. The work mainly involves replacement of storm drainage pipes and removal/replacement of the road pavement. W. Drexel Avenue will be closed to through traffic during the duration of this work. The project limits for the road closure are from the eastern limits of the S. 51st Street roundabout to the west of S. Bridge View Drive. The roundabout at S. 51st Street and Drexel Avenue west of the roundabout will be open prior to Drexel Avenue east of the roundabout being closed. Detour signs are posted. Milwaukee County Department of Transportation is reconstructing S. 76th Street (CTH U) from S. County Line Road to S. Creekview Court. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the fall of 2025. Motorists are encouraged to use W. Rawson Avenue, I-94/41 North-South, and County Road K to get around the closures. See Project Brief/Detour Route.
All northbound and southbound traffic on Lovers Lane is moved to one outside lane in each direction. The inside lanes are closed to complete crossover removals, median work, install remaining streetlights, and permanent pavement markings. -The median at Venture Drive will be closed during this stage for construction and safety reasons. Access will be limited to right turn in on NB and right turns out onto NB. If coming from the North, a U-Turn should be completed at either Whitnall Edge Road or Speedway Drive.
-Existing turn lanes at Speedway Drive and temporary turn lanes at the remaining side roads will be made available.
-This closure is estimated to last about 5 weeks, weather permitting.
WIS 100 Resurfacing Project: 60th Street to St. Martins Road
WIS 100 remains closed to through traffic between 60th Street and Puetz Road until early fall while crews reconstruct the roadway. Access to businesses, residents, school buses, and emergency vehicles remain in place. Lane closures remain in place at the Hwy 100/Hwy 36 intersection where traffic is in a single lane each direction. A detour is posted utilizing 27th Street, County BB (Rawson Avenue), and Loomis Road. Access will be maintained for motorists with destinations within the work zone.
