Solid Waste Collection & Recycling
NOTE: Garbage Pickup Delayed by One Day This Week Due to Monday's Weather
Due to the severe winter storm that impacted our area on Monday, March 16, Johns made the decision not to operate collection routes for the day in order to prioritize the safety of our drivers and the public. In addition, several local landfills and disposal facilities were closed or operating with limited access, preventing trucks from unloading. As a result, all remaining collection routes will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week. For example, routes normally scheduled for Wednesday will occur on Thursday, Thursday routes will occur on Friday, and Friday routes will occur on Saturday. Please leave carts at the curb until collection has occurred. We appreciate your understanding.
Weekly refuse, weekly recycling, and 4 times a year leaves and brush collection is provided to all single-family, two-family, and condominium ownership multi-family units. The collection service is outsourced to a private contractor; the current contract being with Johns Disposal Services of Whitewater.
Residential Brush Drop-Off & Recycling Center
The Residential Brush Drop-Off & Recycling Center Yard, located adjacent to the Public Works Garage at 7979 W. Ryan Road, is CLOSED. This includes the gated area for brush drop-off, recycling drop-off, and used motor oil, antifreeze, and oil filters. Please continue to use the Waste Management Metro Landfill for brush and recycling disposal and the Milwaukee County Hazardous Waste Facility for used oil/oil filters and used antifreeze disposal.
