Shari Hanneman is a 25-year resident of Franklin. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.S. in Applied Economics/Public Policy from Marquette University. She has extensive business and financial experience having worked as a buyer for the parent company of Boston Store for nearly 15 years. While raising her two children, Shari was active in the community volunteering at Southwood Glen Elementary School and as a Girl Scout leader. Shari’s leadership and commitment to the community also includes:
- Executive Director - Franklin Educational Foundation
- Administered over $130K in private grants to Franklin Public Schools
- Cut expenses by over 25% in three years
- Citizens for a Safe Wisconsin, Inc.
- Led community protest against a group home for sex predators in Franklin
- Advocated for tougher sex offender laws in Wisconsin
- Fought for safety and sovereignty of our City
- Named “Community Superstar” by Franklin HUB/Community Newspapers
- Awarded City of Franklin Resolution of Appreciation (2005-5862)
- State of Wisconsin Joint Legislative Council
- Appointed by State Senator to recommend changes to sex offender laws
- Franklin Plan Commission
- Worked on and voted for sex offender residency restrictions
- Negotiated issues on large developments
- Charter Member and past-president of Root River Junior Woman’s Club
- Granted specialized pediatric equipment to Franklin paramedics
