Alderman Taylor was elected in a recall election on September 8, 2015 with 71% of the vote. Taylor was first elected to the Common Council in April of 2008 and re-elected in 2011, when he received the largest vote total in Franklin history. He served as Common Council President from when he took office in 2008 until he left office in 2014. He currently is a member of the Licensing and Civic Celebrations Committees and has previously served on Finance, Forward Franklin Economic Development Committees and Community Development Authority.
Supervisor Taylor was elected to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in April 2012 to represent the 9th District, which includes Hales Corners and parts of Franklin and Oak Creek. Shortly after he was elected, his colleagues on the County Board selected him to serve as 2nd Vice-Chairman of the County Board.
Supervisor Taylor serves as Chairman of the Economic & Community Development Committee, the Transportation, Public Works & Transit Committee, and the Parks, Energy and Environment Committee. Additionally, Steve is currently serving an appointment to the Milwaukee County Commission on Aging.
Steve obtained a Bachelor's Degree in public administration and political science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He was elected to the La Crosse Common Council in 1997 at the age of 21 and served until 2001.
