The City of Franklin is currently looking for a full-time Community Fire Prevention Specialist to work 40 hours per week in the Franklin Fire Department.

Essential Duties: Conduct fire inspections of existing structures, construction, and remodel sites; review building and site plans for code compliance; investigate complaints and fire hazards; and coordinate fire inspections, pre-fire planning, and drills for high-risk populations. Provide guidance to property owners to achieve compliance and maintain required inspection records and reports. Ensure compliance with Wisconsin SPS 314 requirements and coordinate plan reviews for fire alarm and suppression systems. Qualifications:  High school diploma and two years of related experience required; associate’s degree or coursework in fire science, construction, education, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required, along with the ability to work effectively with the public and other agencies.

Certifications: Valid Wisconsin driver’s license required. Wisconsin Fire Inspector I certification must be obtained within six months of hire. Must pass pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.   

Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week.

Starting Wages:  $28.53 to $37.08/hour, depending on qualifications.
