The City of Franklin is currently looking for a part-time Library Shelver to work 10 hours per week in the Franklin Library.

Qualifications Include:  Education equivalent to a junior in high school. Eligible for a child labor permit, if required. Valid Wisconsin driver's license preferred. No prior experience required. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with the public and staff verbally and/or in writing. Ability to follow detailed directions, maintain a regular work schedule, and adapt to changes in workload when the library is busy. Working knowledge of English grammar and spelling. Ability to sort efficiently in alphabetic or numeric order and develop a working understanding of the Dewey Decimal and Cutter systems. Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10s and 100s, and apply these operations to American money, weight, volume, and distance measurements. 

Essential Duties:  Reshelves library materials and maintains the collection in a neat, orderly fashion under immediate supervision. Performs alphanumeric sorting and filing tasks, arranges returned materials on book trucks, and places them in proper order on the shelves. Assists in maintaining book stacks, including shelving, facing, and shelf reading. Empties the bookdrop and takes returned items to the proper location for check-in. Answers directional questions and routes patrons to appropriate personnel with courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment. Normal Hours:  Monday-Friday, 10 hours per week.    

Starting Wages and Benefits:  $10.49-$13.32/hour, depending on qualifications.  No benefits are eligible for this position.
