The City of Franklin (Fire Department) and City of Oak Creek (Fire Department) are jointly seeking an outgoing, well-organized professional for the position of Community Fire Prevention Specialist (CFPS). The CFPS’s primary responsibility would be to assist in coordinating and conducting annual fire inspections for all commercial and multi-tenant residential properties and other fire prevention and education activities, with time shared between both municipalities.
The Departments are seeking an individual who can conduct these inspections in an interactive and educative manner. Secondary responsibilities would include community fire safety and prevention outreach activities, such as facilitating evacuation drills in senior housing, schools, and daycares. The ideal candidate will have an outgoing and engaging personality, excellent time management and organizational skills, and will be highly detail-oriented.
The employee would be hired and compensated as a City of Franklin employee, with funding and work time shared equally between the two communities. Requirements: High School diploma and 2 years full-time related work experience required (such as background in firefighting, building inspection, or construction). An Associate’s degree is desirable but not required. State of Wisconsin Fire Inspector I or the ability to attain such within six (6) months, and a valid WI driver’s license are required.
Salary Range: $51,224 to $66,591/year with the expected starting salary to be $51,224 - $61,213/year depending on qualifications.
