Northwoods University provides a wide range of financing options to help make education affordable. Our Financial Aid staff will work closely with you and your family to map our a plan for achieving your education goals.  We encourage all students who think they need aid to apply.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions regarding the financial aid process.

How do you determine if I am eligible for assistance?

The Northwoods University Financial Aid Application (NUFAA) begins the process.  We are pleased to announce the availability of this application on the web.  We have tried to keep the number of required responses to a minimum.  Our goal is to make this a painless process.

After you submit your NUFAA, we will provide email confirmation after we receive your application.

What information should I have on-hand to complete the NUFAA application online?

We recommend preparing in advance by having the following information on hand:

  • Parents' 2006 tax information
  • Parents' 2006 untaxed income
  • Current value of parents' assets
  • Student's taxable and untaxed income for 2006
  • Current value of student's assets
  • Family 2006 expenses

Are other forms required beyond the NUFAA?

Yes, all US citizens are required to file the corresponding federal application:  "The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)".  These forms are also available at the Financial Aid Office or you may go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to file online.

State Scholarships

If you are a resident of Alaska, New Jersey, Rhode Island or Vermont, you should apply for a state scholoarship first. If you have questions regarding this process, please contact our Financial Aid Office.

Divorced and Separated Parents

The parent with whom you live should complete the NUFAA and FAFSA.  If this parent has remarried, your stepparent's financial information must be included.  We will evaluate need based on the income of the natural parent and the stepparent.

Please wait while we gather your results.
