Parking at a Premium

High Enrollment Figures Mean Parking is a Premium Commodity

Our spring enrollment figures indicate a 25% increase in the number of students.  This translates into fewer parking spots for students and their guests.

Parking Services is the source for parking permits, issued by the semester.  We encourage students to apply for a permit at least one month prior to the start of a semester.

The NU Public Safety and Security Officers monitor all parking lots throughout the University to ensure that vehicles are in compliance with all rules and regulations.  Our goal is to ensure that parking spaces are avaialble for those who have permits.

I'm a resident student.  Can I get a parking permit?

Only senior residents, classified as those with 90 or more credits, are allowed to purchase a parking permit.  The permit is $200 per semester.

I'm a resident student; can I park my car overnight?

Special permits for overnight parking are required.  If, for some reason, you have an emergency situation and need to park overnight, there are ways to handle this.  Please contact Parking Services for details.

I'm only here for 5 minutes; do I still need a permit?

Yes.  The permit must be displayed on their vehicle no matter how long they plan to stay.
