Crime Stoppers

Franklin Joins Crime Stoppers

The Franklin
Police Department is now participating with Southern Milwaukee County Crime Stoppers (SMCCS); a community program that helps police departments capture criminals. The chapter serves the communities of Cudahy, Franklin, Greendale, Greenfield, St. Francis, and South Milwaukee, and includes citizens, community business members, and one law enforcement representative from each participating municipality. The board of directors, comprised of a group of citizen volunteers—two from each community, is responsible for the day-to-day business of the organization.

Crime Stoppers relies on information from citizens to help police solve crimes. Concerned citizens anonymously provide tips to local law enforcement agencies using the Crime Stoppers toll free number, 1-866-373-6227. If the information leads to an arrest and charges, the tipster may receive a cash reward as determined by the board of directors. The reward is also distributed in a manner to preserve the caller's anonymity.
